DrSean was developed to facilitate discussions between patients and their providers. With this
app, a provider will be able to educate patients about their conditions, next steps, and latest available
results, while also engaging primary family members, who are entrusted by the patient. DrSean enables
family members to support one another, even when they reside in other cities, states, or are otherwise
unable to be present, at the time their loved-ones are being visited by their providers.
The idea came about during routine hospital rounds, one Saturday. A patient Ms. Jones was
asking about her MRI of the brain. I answered her, also indicating that I had already reviewed the images
personally and had collaborated with her nurse. “But, nobody collaborated with me,” Ms. Jones replied,
expressing disatisfaction that we hadn’t shown her pictures of her stroke, however had shared them
amongst each other. As a physician who loves to educate patients about their conditions, I completely
agreed with her and started to consider ways to make such collaboration regularly doable for all of the
Ms. Joneses and their providers.
